This was such a great almost 4 hour walking tour from start to finish. The itinerary was packed in the best possible way—every stop felt worthwhile, well‑timed, and thoughtfully planned. Matt, tour guide was absolutely wonderful: friendly, organised, and incredibly knowledgeable. They shared so many insights and stories that added real depth to each place we visited. You could tell they genuinely loved what they do. Overall, an amazing experience and highly recommended.

Matt was terrific! The right amount of history while also providing an excellent flavor of Sydney. Wish we had done the tour on our first day in Sydney! On our own we missed so much. Also loved our small group. He even remembered our names! ❤️

We enjoyed the tastes offered, but were hoping for more for the price. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about Chinatown and China in general, especially since he lives part time in China. We appreciated his thorough knowledge. The one beverage offered was at a tea stand that we had to pay extra for ourselves. It was a very hot day and it was a lot of standing around in the heat listening to him talk a lot about history. It would have been nice to have more of a focus on the food and chats about history sitting in shade or air conditioning. But an interesting tour.

A Melbournian in Sydney I wanted to get some idea of the culture and history of Sydney. I did two walking tours, a bar/street art tour and a history tour. The bar tour was great in one of the inner suburbs of Sydney I felt this is one of the areas that Sydneysiders like to party and enjoy the nightlife. The history tour was very informative Matt, knew his Sydney and you can hear his passion of his city and I learnt a lot. I would suggest anyone try Local Sauce Tours, they were engaging, fun and informative.

Very much a disappointment actually.

While the host was extremely friendly and engaging, the cost per person (collectively) only to then be taken to locations where the average drink was beyond $20 AUD per drink … simply did not meet my “expectations” at all. Lovely group – wonderful host – but “product” or “experience” needs to either be clearly communicated or perhaps revised to reflect participants expectations.

Tom was a brilliant guide! We learned so much about Brisbane Street art, the history of art in the city and a bit of general history too! The Thursday night route is brilliant and the small bars they bring you to are absolutely fantastic. Well worth the money!

Wonderful walking tour through the different parts of central Sydney. Matt has been a fantastic, knowledgeable guide, and time went by quickly. Communication ahead of the tour around timings, meet up point etc. has been super clear as well.

This was my second local sauce tour and my favorite nightlife experience in Sydney! You really get access to bars you wouldn’t be able to find yourself as a tourist, and it’s a great way to meet friends for solo travelers. If you are visiting Sydney a local sauce tour is a must. Justin is an art connoisseur. So if you are into not only indulging in art but learning the history he gives the best street art tour Sydney has to offer. He takes time to not only give you the history of the art, but the culture of the area you are touring in Sydney and really makes you feel like a local with his bar choices. You can tell he is a hometown hero. Everywhere we went he was greeted with love and praise from the owners of each establishment. He took me to my favorite bars I have ever been to in Sydney and if it wasn’t for his tour – I wouldn’t have met all my new friends as a solo traveler. Chippendale is tour #1 of 3 I have taken of local sauce so if that doesn’t say it’s a bucket list must do when you are visiting Australia idk what would. Don’t think, just book! We love Justin and local sauce!

We had a wonderful experience on the Newtown tour, and Robyn did an excellent job. She explained the details of the murals clearly and engagingly, and it was fascinating to learn about food from different cultures and nations. The Turkish ice cream was special and truly unique, and the spicy margarita was a great surprise too! Overall, it was an enjoyable, well-organised, and memorable tour. Highly recommended.

I joined this Chinatown food tour thinking ahead to when friends visit—and ended up discovering places and stories I hadn’t known as well as I thought. I knew Mother Chu from UberEats 😄; the tour made it feel properly known. Every other stop was new, authentic, and full of history.
Justin, our guide, was knowledgeable and empathetic without being performative. The tour offers clear historical context and gently highlights how migrants who faced the biggest barriers helped shape Australia’s food culture. Well paced, well fed, and genuinely interesting. Highly recommend.
