FAQ

Do you offer private tours or corporate tours?

Yes, all our tours are available as private or corporate tours. Please contact us to find out more.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes, we offer gift vouchers and they can be redeemed on any of our tours. Our gift vouchers are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase, and we can send a customised gift voucher by email to the lucky recipient.

Will I be full by the end of one of the food tours?

Most of our food tours include at least 4 decent-sized snacks which are enough for 99% of our guests to feel comfortably full by the end of the tour. Check the “What’s included” section on your tour for more details on what you can expect.

Should I eat before a Secret Bar Crawl?

Yes, please! You don’t want to be “that guy” on one of our evening tours, so please, eat beforehand or arrive 10 minutes early and get some food at the first bar. There is always an opportunity for more food during the night, but we don’t recommend showing up on an empty stomach (or several drinks in for that matter).

What if I don’t drink alcohol? Will I still enjoy the Secret Bar Crawl?

Of course you will! While you would think a Secret Bar Crawl involves a lot of drinking, this is definitely not a “pub crawl” with cheap shots and sticky dance floors. You are welcome to drink as much (within limits) or as little as you like. In fact, we often have guests join the Secret Bar Crawl who don’t drink at all, but are just looking for a fun night and to visit a few new venues, or are travelling solo and don’t feel comfortable going to bars on their own. Drinking alcohol is not at all necessary to enjoy one of our tours!

Should I take the tour at the beginning of my stay?

Definitely! While anytime is a good time to take a Local Sauce Tour, our guests who take a tour towards the end of their time often lament that they didn’t do it earlier. That’s because part of our goal is to give you the insider info to really make the most of your time in Sydney, with every guest receiving a map with our personal recommendations.

What happens if it’s raining?

Grab an umbrella or rain jacket and get out there! Our tours are held rain or shine, and unless it is dangerously rainy (extremely rare) our tours will proceed. Please check the conditions and dress appropriately. Most of our tours involve a fair amount of time indoors, so if it is foul and rainy weather, your guide will adjust the route to maximise time spent out of the rainy weather.

Are your tours wheelchair and baby stroller friendly?

Our “Hidden Sydney”, “Newtown Chewtown” and “Aussie Chinatown” tours are wheelchair and baby stroller friendly. Unfortunately, the Secret Bar Crawl tour is not normally wheelchair friendly (and definitely no babies allowed), but if you let us know in advance, we can adjust the route and the bars we visit to make sure you can participate. Please note that as the tour takes place in Surry Hills there may be some inclines, but we’ll do our best to come up with a route that limits the uphills and accentuates the downhills.

Are your tours suitable for children?

Our “Aussie Chinatown” and “Hidden Sydney” tours are both appropriate for children, depending on their age. For the Hidden Sydney tour, we walk approximately 2.5 to 3 km total, at a relaxed pace, over 2.5 hours (with a coffee break in the middle). If you think your child is up for that, and that they would be interested in stories about local and Australian history, they are more than welcome to join. Our Aussie Chinatown tour is shorter in both distance walked and tour duration (1 km and 2 hours), but given the content of the stories focusing on Australian-Chinese history, we would recommend it only for children aged 8 and above.
