Great fun!

Great walking tour thanks to the knowledgeable, friendly, professional guide, Jake.
Certainly learnt lots more about Sydneys history and places of importance than we would have just walking around on our own. Plus went down alleys and backstreets we would have never known about.

The Local Sauce Tours were a fab, fun, and informed way to get a feel for Sydney. I signed my friend and I up for the Sydney Walking Tour (three hours after landing probably wasn’t the wisest move on my part) which was a great launch into exploring Sydney. The tour itself was well paced and covered much of the downtown area. Our guide, Dan, offered up quite a few solid recommendations for food, coffee, and other random spots along the way. All solid hits when being out to explore on our own.

From that first experience, I booked two more tours for the week: the Secret Bars and Chinatown Food Tours. Dan, our chipper and generous guide for the earlier tour, endured us a second round for tromping around in heavy winds and rain to hit up some great drinking spots. Justin was an affable, thoughtful guide through the history of Sydney’s Chinatown along with a literal bingo card of local hits.

I will absolutely check their schedule again the next time I’m in Sydney.

If you’re in Sydney and looking for something unique, I can’t recommend this Street Art and Food Tour enough! From start to finish, it was an eye-opening journey through the vibrant neighborhood of NewTown, quite different than any other part of Sydney! A true hidden gem!

Our guide was Dan and he was truly phenomenal. Not only was he knowledgeable but he was incredibly engaging. He told stories about the artist, their work, and the history behind each mural that contributed even more to the tour.

The food was also amazing! Dan took us to the best spots that I would have completely missed if I were to do it on my own (Get the burnt caramel from the Turkish Ice Cream shop). Dan even went above and beyond to suggest other local favorites!

So if you are contemplating something to do while in Sydney, I highly recommend!

Thoroughly enjoyed the Ultimate Sydney Walking Tour with our guide, Michael. The experience was informative and fun, and communication before and after the tour from both Michael and Justin was appreciated. I would happily recommend it.

We had a fantastic time on the Newtown Chewtown Local Sauce Tour! Daniel, our guide, had a great personality that made the tour fun and engaging. We learned about the history of Newtown, its vibrant street art culture, and the many artists whose work decorates the area. A bonus highlight was the stops at several local eateries, where we enjoyed some truly delicious bites.

Fantastic tour! The tour was very informative and great value for money. Our guide was very informative and passionate about what he does. We tried delicious food and learnt the stories behind some beautiful street art. We got a lot out of doing the tour rather than just walking around the area on our own. Highly recommend for visitors to Sydney!

Our walking tour with Nicole gave us a great welcome to Brisbane. Nicole’s local knowledge provided us with a good understanding of the layout and history of Brisbane. We also ended with a couple of yummy surprises!

Newtown Chewtown- Food & Street Art Tour

I’ve lived in the area for 15 years and decided to see my hood from a different point of view. Couldn’t think of a better way than a foodie/street art tour.

We went to 4 different food venues including The Pie Tin, Vandal, Hakiki, Cairo Takeaway and finished off with a beer at Young Henrys. Except for Vandal, I had been to them all before but it was nice to go and experience them with some visitors to the area.

I have to say though, seeing all the street art was amazing. I never realised there was so much of it and getting the stories behind the art just added to the experience.

Andrew, our guide, was simply brilliant! His depth of knowledge was impressive and his friendly manner in making everyone feel included was just perfect. Watching the interaction of our group and how they were enjoying the experience is a definite shout out to Andrew, he did an amazing job…thanks mate 🙂

Thoroughly recommend this tour for both locals and travellers alike.

Newtown Street Art and Food Walking Tour.
Our group had a lovely afternoon exploring the amazing array of steet art and food offerings in and around Newtown, thanks to our super guide Andrew, from Local Sauce Tours.
Andrew was knowledgeable, informative and interesting. He was friendly, welcoming and comfortable to be around. His articulation was excellent – we learnt a lot about the art and artists alike, and also certainly enjoyed the food choices at the stops along the walk.
It was a truly enjoyable experience that we are very happy to recommend.
Just do it! It’s good value for money.

Local Sauce was the 3rd and final food/drink tour I partook in while I was in Sydney Australia on holiday recently and I have to say, it was the best in terms of price, keeping me interested/engaged, AND food offerings.

My instructions were to meet the group at the “I Have A Dream“ mural in Newtown, which was easy enough for me to find. Once I got there, I quickly identified others with the same lost expression and knew I’d found my tribe, lol. Shortly thereafter, Daniel appeared, introduced himself, and herded us around the corner to one of the most beautiful murals I’ve ever seen.

From there we had an icebreaker where we each introduced ourselves, then we were off. We walked a bit with Daniel pointing out art and historical references along the way until we arrived at the first food venue which served meat pies. I shared a beef pie with another tour person and it was AMAZING.

And so it was like this the rest of the tour. We saw amazing murals and learned of Newtown history in between walking to the other food venues. We stopped at an Egyptian place that served falafel balls that were to die for. Next was a vegan taco place where I had the best tacos in my life, EVER. No joke. And lets not forget the Turkish ice cream place, where it was so hard to choose between delicious flavors.

We ended the tour at Young Henry’s, which is a super cool brewery with all kinds of crazy murals and tchotchkes.

Daniel was a good spirited and knowledgeable guide. I enjoyed his guidance and energy. Overall, I was very happy with my Local Sauce experience and definitely recommend it for natives and travelers.

Steve did a great job explaining the history and sights of Sydney. It was a particularly rainy day, and he did a good job of keeping us under cover as much as possible and capitalizing on the few times the sun came out. Would recommend this experience.

Great tour! I’m a Sydney local so been to Chinatown many times but learned so much about the history of the area plus a great list of where to try next.

Explored Sydney downtown and the rocks Jake was awesome had a fun time exploring the city and learning history about Australia! Wish we could do more tours and have more time in Sydney. Will definitely have to come back!

Amazing way to experience locations Fascinating tour with excellent host providing a great insight into Newtown’s food scene, breweries and street art, the latter proving a lot more interesting than I expected!I have joined several Local Sauce tours in Sydney plus one in Brisbane and all have been 5-star experiences covering aspects that I would have missed as an independent traveler.
