Our Hosts
Interested in joining the team? We’re always looking for new, exceptional hosts! Fill out our host application, and we’ll be in touch 🙂
Justin
Justin is originally from Brisbane but has lived in Sydney for 10 years. He moved here to start a career in corporate law, but luckily escaped that path and started Local Sauce Tours. To learn about that story, click here.
Justin hosts multiple tours, including the Ultimate Sydney, Chinatown and Newtown tours. He’s also the guy responding to your emails or live chat messages, so say hi!
An avid traveller, Justin has backpacked around South America, Europe and Asia, visiting around 50 countries. He speaks fluent Mandarin and enough French to confuse a French person.
Daniel
Dan leads our Ultimate Sydney tour and the Secret Bar Crawl. Coming from a bartending background, Dan has jumped into tourism with both feet and is out there most days, showing our guests the best of Sydney.
Born in “The Shire” (Cronulla), Dan might come across as your typical Aussie surfer boy, but he was the first person in his family to not be born in Poland. He’s a chill, super-friendly guy, who has found his passion in tour guiding and loves getting paid to eat, drink and tell stories around beautiful Sydney.
He has been described by guests as “a history geek in the nicest possible way” and we guarantee you’ll be infected by his enthusiasm for all things Sydney and Australia. Whether it is surf breaks, cocktail bars, live music or restaurant recommendations, he’s got you covered.
Andrew
Andrew was set to head off to Europe in early 2020 to start guiding backpackers on tours with Topdeck. But then the pandemic happened… and Topdeck’s loss is Local Sauce’s gain!
Born in Wales but bred in Queensland’s “Garden City” of Toowoomba, Andrew has lived in Sydney for 7 years. He stumbled onto one of our tours as a guest and couldn’t get enough, so now he’s out there most Saturdays, showing guests around on our Ultimate Sydney tour. With a day job in events management, Andrew will keep you entertained and on time!
If you like coffee, Andrew has all the best recommendations.
Bunny
Made in China, exported to New York and then sent Down Under, Bunny is a cannon ball of energy and a popular host of our Chinatown – Street Food & Stories tour.
Bunny is an edu-tainer who just loves to share stories. With an eclectic taste and a wide range of interests, she can always pull out fascinating anecdotes about things. Did you know she was even in a Netflix series?
This happy-go-lucky energiser ❤️ to travel, ❤️ creativity and sustainability, and ❤️❤️❤️ food (especially hot wings!) 😆
Check out her fun content and fashion ideas on Instagram @SoooBunny.
Eddie
Eddie hosts our Chinatown tour, which makes sense, as he grew up in and around the area, with his parents working in nearby restaurants.
As an “ABC” (Australian-born Cantonese), Eddie has a deep attachment to the history and people who make up Sydney’s Chinatown. The area’s food scene is the backdrop to his childhood. He loves sharing stories about places that he’s been coming to all his life, and introducing new audiences to dishes he’s been eating since before he can remember!
Eddie holds a Masters in Architecture from UTS and runs a design agency specialising in social impact. He’s also a member of Soul of Chinatown, a not-for-profit organisation established to promote Sydney’s historic Chinatown precinct and support local businesses.
Claudia
Arriving on our shores from Peru 10 years ago, Claudia has found a home in Darlinghurst and Australia.
You’ll find her leading the Saturday night Secret Bar Crawls in her local stomping ground of Darlo and Surry Hills, where she gets paid to visit some of her favourite whisky and tequila bars. She’s bursting with other recommendations for the area, including other great cafes, restaurants and bars to check out.
With a background in the tourism industry, Claudia now works in fashion. She loves art and cooking. And naturally, Claudia is a fluent Spanish speaker.
Michael
Michael has been guiding for over 20 years, both for tourists and school students on educational tours. He leads our Ultimate Sydney Walking Tour and loves showing guests the best hidden spots in the CBD.
With a Masters in Law specialising in human rights, Michael is passionate about sharing the stories of Australia’s minority groups, including Aboriginal people and the LGBTI community. He is a culture vulture and musical tragic, who is happy to share artistic and cultural favourites.
Having lived overseas in France, Argentina, Israel and Thailand, Michael is fluent in French, Spanish and Hebrew – and a few phrases of Thai! He also leads his own walking tour covering Sydney’s LGBT history.
Jack
Born and raised in the Hunter Valley, Jack has been living his best “Manly bubble” life for almost 4 years now, in between frequent travels abroad.
Jack is passionate about bringing people together to create a fun, welcoming environment, which he excels at when hosting our Thursday night Secret Bar Crawls in The Rocks. Coming from a wine region, his knowledge of the Hunter is on point. As a Manly local, he is also full of recommendations for that part of town, so ask away.
When not leading tours, Jack is a horse racing enthusiast and has his own media channel which educates people about the industry with a side of humour (check it out on IG at @railsrun).
Melinda
Melinda is a born-and-bred Sydneysider and has lived in the Inner West for most of her life. She leads our Newtown Chewtown – Food & Street Art tour.
Melinda has literally written the book on Inner West street art – actually, she’s written two! She has been a street art tour guide for many years and has spent the last fifteen years photographing, researching, following and talking to graffitists and street artists of all forms around Sydney’s streets. See her street art photos on Instagram: @me1inda.
Melinda is full of recommendations for Sydney’s live music scene, especially in the Marrickville and Newtown areas.
Nihar
Nihar comes second place in the Local Sauce Tours team’s “how many countries have you been to” competition, having visited 67 countries so far. He’s also fluent in Gujarati and Hindi, and speaks some Spanish – what a show-off!
A former tour manager in Europe for almost 5 years, Nihar is an absolute pro at leading people around on fun adventures. He’s rocking the Hawaiian shirt because he hosts some of our Secret Bar Crawls!
Nihar is a big foodie and loves Sydney’s restaurant scene, so hit him up for recommendations.
Robyn
From across the ditch (New Zealand), Robyn has lived in Sydney for over 20 years, generally further out west but as both a tour guide and private driver, she gets around!
Robyn leads our Newtown Chewtown – Food & Street Art tour. She has been showing guests around the area for several years now on both private and group tours, as well as leading tours of the Blue Mountains and all around town.
A speaker of Te Reo Māori, Robyn also throws out a bit of French, German, Japanese, Mandarin and Sinhala. When not leading tours, she enjoys travelling (60 countries and counting) and going out clubbing with her three adult children.
Lucy
Born in the Bush Capital but raised in Sydney, Lucy loves how the city is a melting pot of people with varying interests, fresh food and a great music and arts scene.
Someone who describes herself as having “Golden Retriever energy”, she brings her bubbliness to our Chinatown tour. You can also catch her hosting some of our Refugee Chef Dinner Banquets. In her day job, she creates TikToks for progressive politicians.
Lucy can also speak (and sing!) in Mandarin. We actually discovered her while she was lighting up the stage performing a classic Chinese opera. Lucy loves hitting up jam sessions and is our go-to expert for Sydney’s markets scene and live music.
Eddie
Hailing from the mid-north coast of New South Wales, Eddie moved to the “big smoke” of Sydney after uni and hasn’t looked back.
A van-lifer environmental scientist during the week, Eddie leads our Thursday night Secret Bar Crawls in The Rocks, and sometimes also pops up leading a weekend bar crawl.
In his spare time, Eddie likes to pretend he is the Crocodile Hunter (ask him to show you his snake photos) or go walk-about, camping, bushwalking and fishing his way through nearby National Parks. He’s known for his strong resemblance to Eric Bana and is happy to pose for photos. Eddie can also speak Mandarin.
Kieran
We discovered Kieran busking in Chinatown one day, singing Mando Pop ballads to a crowd of adoring tourists. It turns out the guy sings pretty well in Chinese!
A man of many talents and jobs, Kieran is one of our regular Secret Bar Crawl hosts, leading the groups on Tuesday and Saturday nights as we show you the best small bars in Sydney.
Kieran’s other ways to earn a crumb include busking, looking after kids in after-school care and dressing up as Santa at Christmas time. He’s trying to go viral on TikTok – meet him before he’s famous! Kieran is also our go-to for recommendations “out west” (eg Campbelltown).
Nina
A Sydney-sider through and through, Nina has lived all over Sydney and is a true city rat at heart; she loves the hustle and bustle of urban life. She also loves how diverse Sydney is and believes there’s something here for everyone.
With a background in design, journalism and communications, she brings her love of arts to the forefront during our Newtown Chewtown tour. Bubbly and extroverted, you can also catch her leading some Tuesday night Secret Bar Crawls.
Nina is also a local radio host and a fluent Serbian speaker. Fun fact – she has a rap song on the internet about an evil cat! Nina is your source for info on creative and arts events happening in town.
Liz
Born in Shanghai and raised in Sydney, Liz is the perfect host for our Chinatown tour. She also hosts some Secret Bar Crawls.
In her own words, her parents weren’t the greatest cooks when she was growing up, so she is an expert on Sydney’s Asian food scene as they ended up just eating out a lot! She loves meeting people from all over the world and sharing her fave spots.
We first met Liz partying on a Thursday night at “Ivy”, and she still knows her way around Sydney’s bar and nightlife scene – if you want bar and restaurant recommendations, Liz is your girl.
Shannon “Shan”
Originally from New Zealand’s surf capital of Raglan, Shan fell in love with guiding after a few years touring around Europe and Asia with Contiki. The biggest traveller of the lot, she’s been to 70-80 countries and is already on her 5th passport! #jealous
Shan brings her knowledge, contagious energy and fun spirit to our Secret Bar Crawls. She knows how to have a crazy, fun time and is very familiar with Sydney’s bar scene, especially in the Eastern Suburbs.
When she’s not on tour, you can find her surfing at Bondi or getting ice cream at her second home, Rivareno Gelato. Her area of expertise is surf breaks and gyms.
